Winona Bennett Cross is a retired OB/GYN nurse who now calls Texas home. Recently widowed, she finds her greatest joy in time spent with her two sons, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. A lifelong lover of horses, she weaves their presence into nearly everything she writes, alongside her fondness for historical storytelling and rich, researched detail.

Her journey into writing began unexpectedly after a disabling fall at the hospital, leading her to discover a new creative path. What started as simple storytelling grew into something more meaningful through the encouragement of fellow writers in the Bayou Writer’s Group in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Today, she is an active member of several writing organizations, including Central Region Oklahoma Writers (CROW), Oklahoma Romance Writers Guild (OKRWG), Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc. (OWFI), and Women Writing the West (WWW).
