Rooted in the Vines:

Community, Legacy, and the Simmons Family

at Keuka Spring Vineyards

There are places around Keuka Lake where you can feel the history before a single word is spoken—where the land itself seems to remember every season it has carried. Keuka Spring Vineyards, perched along the east side of the lake just south of Penn Yan, is one of those places.

A visit here is never rushed. You arrive, step out of your car, and instinctively pause—your eyes drawn first to the water stretching wide and blue below, then to the vineyard rows climbing the hillside. It’s a place shaped not by trends or spectacle, but by patience, stewardship, and a deep respect for the land.

From the Ground Up

Since 2022, Keuka Spring Vineyards has been stewarded by Annette and Jeff Simmons, vineyard owners with more than 45 years of experience rooted in Finger Lakes soil. Their acquisition of the winery felt less like a change in ownership and more like a continuation—an organic next chapter written by people who have spent decades listening to vines, watching the weather, and learning what this land asks for in return.

Long admired for its award-winning wines, dedicated team, and picturesque views of Keuka Lake, the winery already held a respected place along the eastern shore. Under the Simmons family’s care, that reputation continues to deepen, guided by a belief that feels especially fitting here: life happens at the table. Wine, in their view, is not simply what fills a glass—it is a catalyst for connection, conversation, and shared moments.

A Place to Gather

That philosophy quietly shapes the experience at Keuka Spring Vineyards. The tasting room feels welcoming rather than formal, the conversations unhurried. Guests linger. Stories are shared. Glasses are raised. This is a space intentionally created for people to gather, connect, and celebrate—whether you’re a longtime local or discovering Keuka Lake for the first time.

With a grower’s respect for place and a host’s heart for hospitality, Annette and Jeff are deeply committed to raising the profile of Finger Lakes wines while preserving the approachable, terroir-driven style the winery is known for. The result is an experience that feels both grounded and generous.

Honoring the Past, Tending the Future

Founded in 1985 by Len and Judy Wiltberger, Keuka Spring Vineyards was built on care, consistency, and an unwavering sense of place. That foundation remains firmly intact today. Rather than reinventing the winery, the Simmons family has chosen to honor its legacy—maintaining the balance, quality, and warmth that have long defined it, while gently guiding it forward.

Here, the beauty is layered: vineyard rows etched into the hillside, the lake shimmering below, easy laughter drifting across the patio, and the quiet understanding that wine is at its best when it brings people together.

An Upcoming Experience to Savor

That spirit of connection will be on full display on January 10, 2026, when Keuka Spring Vineyards invites guests to an exclusive Wine & Honey Pairing Experience—a tasting that celebrates the natural harmony between their award-winning wines and artisanal honey from Howley's Hives.

This delightfully sweet twist on the classic wine tasting is designed to engage the senses and spark curiosity, pairing each pour with thoughtfully selected honey that highlights and enhances the character of the wine. It’s a perfect experience for wine lovers, foodies, and anyone seeking a fresh, memorable tasting adventure during the winter season.

Tickets and additional details are available on the winery’s website.
