A New Discovery at the Windmill

๐ŸŒฟ A New Discovery at the Windmill: Where Plants—and People—Take Root

I discovered a new shop at the Windmill last weekend that immediately stole my plant-loving heart.

You know the feeling… when you’re wandering between the buildings, not looking for anything in particular, and then something—someplace—just quietly calls you in. That’s exactly what happened when I stepped into 570 Plants Decor & More.

And within moments, I realized… this wasn’t just a shop.

It was a story.

๐ŸŒฑ More Than a Shop—An Experience

Behind it all are Susie and Jim Cacciavillano, the heart and soul of this one-of-a-kind plant boutique. What they’ve created together isn’t simply a place to buy something green and pretty—it’s an experience centered around connection, creativity, and making memories.

You feel it right away.

Susie’s background in floral design is evident in every detail—the softness, the beauty, the intentional way each piece seems to come together so effortlessly. And then there’s Jim… a lifelong carpenter whose craftsmanship grounds the space, giving it structure and soul.

But what struck me most?

His passion for plant knowledge.

Not in a way that overwhelms—but in a way that welcomes. The kind of knowledge that makes you feel like maybe… just maybe… you can keep this plant alive after all. He takes the time to explain, to guide, to connect you not just to the plant—but to the care of it.

And somehow, in that moment, it becomes more than a purchase.

It becomes personal.

๐ŸŒฟ A Space Filled with Thoughtful Finds

As I wandered, I began to notice just how much care had gone into curating every corner of the shop.

They offer unique houseplants, beautifully paired with pots, macramé hangers, air plants, and even one-of-a-kind airplane holders that add a touch of whimsy and conversation to any space.

And then there were the windows… catching the light just so.

Sun catchers of all different sizes and styles, each one scattering little pieces of light across the room—simple, quiet magic that made it hard to walk away without one.

It’s the kind of place where you don’t just find something you need…
You find something you didn’t know you were looking for.

๐ŸŽ A Gift for Every Moment

What I loved most is that this isn’t just a stop for plant lovers—it’s a place for anyone searching for something meaningful.

Whether it’s a birthday, housewarming, anniversary, or just one of those “thinking of you” moments… there’s something here waiting.

Or maybe—just maybe—you leave with something for yourself.

No occasion needed.

๐ŸŒฟ Where Creativity Meets Curiosity

As I wandered, I realized this space invites you to do more than browse—it invites you to create.

Terrarium bars.
Plant bars.
Moss ball pets.
Even candle bars and oyster pearl workshops.

Each one thoughtfully designed, many using repurposed and recycled materials—something that feels especially fitting in a place rooted in growth and renewal.

It’s hands-on. It’s intentional. It’s the kind of experience you don’t rush through.

And honestly… who doesn’t need a little more of that?

๐ŸŒผ A Balance That Feels Just Right

What Susie and Jim offer together is something rare—a perfect balance.

Artistry and education.
Creativity and knowledge.
Beauty and confidence.

Susie helps you create something beautiful.
Jim makes sure you leave knowing how to care for it.

And in between, something else happens…
You slow down.

๐ŸŒ™ Plants With Meaning

One of the most unique pieces of their approach is how they guide you in choosing plants—not just by what looks good, but by meaning.

Symbolism.
Personal intention.

It’s a gentle reminder that sometimes what we bring into our homes reflects something deeper than we realize.

โค๏ธ Rooted in Family

As I stood there, taking it all in, it became clear that this wasn’t just built on business—it was built on family.

Married for nearly two decades, Susie and Jim have created not only a shop, but a life—one filled with children, grandchildren, and a shared passion that continues to grow.

And maybe that’s why it feels the way it does when you walk in.

Warm. Genuine. Rooted.

๐ŸŒฟ A Simple Mission That Stays With You

Before I left, one thought lingered—the quiet mission behind it all:

To help people slow down, learn something new, create something beautiful, and leave with more than just a product…

to leave with a memory.

And standing there at the Windmill, surrounded by plants and possibility… I realized—

That’s exactly what I did.

A Keuka Roots Reflection

If you find yourself wandering the Windmill this season, take a little extra time. Step inside. Ask a question. Create something small.

Because sometimes the places that stay with us the longest…
are the ones we never planned to find.
