Frost & Fire
Frost & Fire:
Where Winter Gathers, Stories Warm,
ο»Ώand Community Glows
Winter has a way of pulling us inward—toward hearths, kitchens, and conversations that linger just a little longer. Here in the heart of the Keuka Lake region, we don’t rush winter away. We meet it. We lean into it. And this January, we gather to celebrate it together at Frost & Fire—a Keuka Roots Signature Event in collaboration with the Greater Hammondsport Area Chamber of Commerce, rooted in warmth, storytelling, and community spirit.
On a crisp winter afternoon, the Hammondsport Fire Department transforms into a place of welcome and wonder. Outside, the air is sharp and bright. Inside, the comforting aromas of simmering chili, hot cocoa, and popcorn fill the room. Laughter rises, stories are exchanged, and strangers become neighbors over a shared bowl and a shared moment.
The Heart of the Day: Chili, Community & Connection
At the center of Frost & Fire is the Chili Cook-Off, proudly presented by Simmons-Rockwell of Bath, NY. This friendly, flavor-filled competition brings together home cooks, local legends, and bold culinary experimenters. From classic comfort to creative heat, each pot tells a story—and every spoonful is a chance for guests to cast a vote for their favorite.
β¨ Good News:
We are still accepting chili contestants!
If you have a recipe friends request every winter—or one you’ve been perfecting for years—this is your moment to ladle it up and join the fun.

Frost & Fire is designed to be family-friendly and joy-filled, with a dedicated Children’s Corner proudly presented by First Heritage Federal Credit Union. Young guests will enjoy creative winter-themed activities, cozy story moments, and hands-on fun designed just for them. Whether crafting, listening to stories, or warming up with cocoa in mittened hands, children are welcomed as a vital part of the celebration—because building community means making space for every generation.
