A Full Circle Story — Pad Thai Catering Returns Home

There’s something about coming back to where it all began.

Not just returning… but returning changed. Grown. Seasoned. Rooted in something deeper than when you first started.

For Phone—owner and chef of Pad Thai Catering—that return has brought her story right back to the heart of it all: Penn Yan, and now, The Windmill Farm & Craft Market.

Please allow her to introduce herself—because as she says, her Keuka Roots story is a beautiful one.

Her name is Phone.

And ten years ago, Pad Thai Catering was just beginning to find its footing. A dream, a menu, and a willingness to show up and share something meaningful—one plate at a time.

Their very first pop-up?

A summer series in 2016 at a small wine bar in Penn Yan. Locals may remember it fondly as “Thai Tuesdays”—a weekly tradition that brought something a little different, a little vibrant, and entirely unforgettable to the table.

It was the kind of beginning that didn’t feel grand or flashy—but it was real.

And real roots have a way of holding strong.

From there, the journey stretched beyond Penn Yan, weaving into the wider Finger Lakes community. Weekends were spent at Noble Shepherd Craft Brewery, where from 2016 through late 2023, Phone and her team built something lasting.

Not just a business—but a relationship.

A rhythm.

A place where customers became regulars… and regulars became part of the story.

The brewery helped Pad Thai Catering grow—but just as importantly, Pad Thai Catering became part of what made that place special. A reminder that when food is made with heart, it does more than satisfy—it connects.

Then, as seasons shifted—as they always do—the next chapter unfolded.

In early 2024, the pop-up found a new home at Other Half Brewing Finger Lakes. A new space. A new audience. A continuation of the same passion that had carried them from the very beginning.

But here’s the thing about roots…

They don’t forget where they started.

And sometimes—if you’re lucky—they lead you right back.

This season, Pad Thai Catering made its debut in Building Three at The Windmill’s Opening Weekend, stepping into a space that feels both new and familiar all at once. A return to Penn Yan. A return to community. A return to something that feels like home.

There’s a quiet kind of beauty in that.

Not the kind that demands attention—but the kind you feel when a story comes full circle.

🌿 Keuka Roots Reflection

There’s something quietly powerful about a story that circles back to where it began.

Not because it stayed the same—but because it didn’t.

Because along the way, there were long weekends, early mornings, new places, unfamiliar faces… and the steady work of building something from the ground up. The kind of work that doesn’t always get noticed in the moment—but over time, becomes something people come to rely on. Something they return to.

And then one day… you find yourself back at the beginning.

Only now, you see it differently.

What once felt like a starting point now feels like a foundation. What once was a chance now feels like purpose. And what once was uncertain now carries the confidence of everything learned along the way.

That’s the beauty of roots.

They don’t hold you in place—they guide you forward. And sometimes, if the path is right, they bring you home again… stronger, wiser, and deeply connected to every step it took to get there.

So if you find yourself wandering through The Windmill on a Saturday—between the handmade goods, the fresh produce, and the familiar hum of conversation—follow the scent of something warm, something bold, something unforgettable.

You’ll find Phone there.

Cooking. Smiling. Welcoming.

And if you happen to remember those early days… those Thai Tuesdays back in 2016…

Be sure to say so.

Because stories like this?

They aren’t just told.

They’re lived.

And now, they’ve found their way home.

Stay Rooted. Stay Keuka. 🌿
