Around Keuka Lake: Small-Town Charm, Big Fall Fun

Autumn around Keuka Lake feels like stepping into a postcard — the air is brisk but kind, the hills wear their Sunday best, and every little stop offers up a cozy taste of small-town charm and a smile to match.

This week, our travels took us from wine glasses to warm pretzels, with a splash of Halloween magic to top it all off.

🍷 First Stop: The Hidden Cork

We began our week at The Hidden Cork, where history and hospitality pour side by side. It’s the kind of place that feels both refined and familiar — a tucked-away gem where local stories flow as freely as the wine. Each pour comes with a touch of small-town charm, and every conversation feels like catching up with a friend.

Small-town charm. Big-hearted wine. That’s The Hidden Cork.

πŸ₯¨ Next Stop: The Windmill Farm & Craft Market

No Keuka week would be complete without a visit to The Windmill. The market buzzed with autumn energy — the smell of fresh-baked goods mingling with kettle corn sweetness in the crisp October air.

We made our rounds: flaky pastries from Country Maid Bakery, a cheesy slice at Shorty’s Pizza and More, a bag of Kass’s Kettle Corn (because it’s impossible to leave without one), and warm pretzels from Auntie Anne’s. And yes, we stocked up on creamy fudge from Oh Fudge for the trip home — because road snacks are a must.

Each vendor added their own flavor to the day — proof that The Windmill is more than a market, it’s a community woven together by food, laughter, and local love.

πŸ“Έ And don’t forget!

While you’re soaking in the sights and flavors at The Windmill, be sure to
snap a few photos and enter the Windmill’s Fall Photo Contest for a chance to win some great prizes. Capture those golden leaves, cozy smiles, and picture-perfect market moments — the very heart of autumn in the Finger Lakes.

πŸ§™‍♀️ A Spellbinding Saturday in the Finger Lakes!

To wrap up the week, the
Saunders Finger Lakes Museum is hosting a truly enchanting event today — the Witches & Warlocks Paddle: A Spellbinding Afternoon on the Water!

It’s one of the most magical sights of the season: paddlers dressed in witchy finery gliding across the water, celebrating autumn, community, and a little Halloween mischief. Whether you’re joining in or watching from shore, it’s an experience that perfectly captures the playful, creative spirit of the Finger Lakes.

πŸŽƒ And Don’t Forget…

After all that soaring and spell-casting, the fun keeps rolling in
Downtown Penn Yan with the community Trunk or Treat! Costumes, candy, and cheerful chaos await — the perfect ending to a festive fall day around Keuka Lake.

✈️ Soaring Through History — and a Little Halloween Fun!

We also stopped by the
Glenn H. Curtiss Museum to hear about their festive fall happenings. Today, they’re hosting “Soaring Through History: Fall Fun and Spooky Surprises at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum.” Families can enjoy a day of discovery, hands-on crafts, and a spooky scavenger hunt among the historic aircraft and exhibits. It’s a celebration that blends the thrill of aviation with a dash of Halloween wonder — a perfect outing for history buffs and little trick-or-treaters alike.

✨ As we head into another weekend, we’re raising a glass (and maybe a slice of pizza) to the makers, bakers, paddlers, pilots, and candy givers who make this region so full of life — and to everyone who keeps the spirit of fall alive across the Keuka region.

Until next time, nap, sip, snack, repeat!
