🌿 Rooted in Community: The Story of Plants on Main 🌿

After years of service in the U.S. Navy and a career in government contracting, Sarah Haberstroh decided it was time to plant herself somewhere she could truly call home. Drawn to wide-open skies, winding trails, and the kind of community where neighbors still know each other’s names, Sarah found her perfect fit in the Finger Lakes.

An adventurer at heart, Sarah has always loved the outdoors—hiking, camping, and taking road trips with her loyal travel companion, her dog Cuzco. But it was her growing passion for plants and design that inspired her next chapter.

That chapter became Plants on Main, her charming shop in Downtown Penn Yan. More than just a plant store, it’s a space where Sarah blends her love of nature, creativity, and connection. Easygoing and friendly, she’s quick to strike up a conversation—whether with locals stopping in for a new houseplant or tourists discovering Penn Yan for the first time. Her warmth makes the shop feel less like a store and more like a gathering place.

Nestled among the stunning greenery, you’ll find a charming gift shop showcasing exquisite handcrafted treasures from talented local artisans. From Hutton Farm Soaps to beautiful cards, art pieces, and one-of-a-kind handmade goods, Sarah carefully curates items that celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and community spirit. Every piece tells a story—locally sourced, thoughtfully made, and designed to bring beauty and meaning into your home. Supporting local artists is important to her, and she loves introducing visitors to the talent and passion that thrives right here around Keuka Lake. And if you’re lucky, you may find her trusted companion, Cuzco, keeping you company as you browse.

You will also find special, intimate creative classes held throughout the year, offering opportunities to learn, create, and connect with others in the community.

For Sarah, Penn Yan is no longer just a stop along the way—it’s home. And through Plants on Main, she’s cultivating more than greenery. She’s nurturing a community. Welcome to our community, Sarah and Cuzco!
